Caught in a storm without reliable flashlights?
During our preparations for hurricane Sandy recently, we came to realize that we needed to purchase a new set of flashlights. Ours were in a sorry state. Half were lost or broken, and the flashlights that we could find were decades old, used bulbs that didn’t put out much light, and required C or D cell batteries. None of our home electronics really use C or D cell batteries anymore, so we never have any on hand.
We also simply needed more of them. As some were lost or broken, We didn’t even have enough working flashlights on hand to provide one to each person in the house in the event of a power outage.
After some researching, we ended up choosing HoffCo’s Norlite brand. We bought several of the 19-LED and 4-LED models. They all feature solid aluminum cases with rubberized gaskets so they’re impact and water resistant, bright LED’s instead of bulbs for long lasting battery life, and they use AAA and AA batteries. The best part of all, is that they’re extremely inexpensive. $11 for the 19-LED and $4 for the 4-LED, and they include batteries.
We purchased 5 of both models. Every one arrived working perfectly. The quality of these flashlights is amazing considering the price — especially since they come with batteries. If you need to update your storm kit or are looking for an inexpensive but high quality emergency flashlight for your glove box or purse, I’d highly recommend the Norlite series. They’re extremely well made for the money, and are available in several different colors.
